Full 2026 rankings, city guides, and red-flag checks: Business Cash Advance Settlement.
The repayment mechanism deserves attention before the borrowing limit. Two products bearing the PayPal name can draw money from different sources on different schedules, and that distinction becomes extremely consequential during a weak sales period. PayPal describes both its Business Loan and its Working Capital offering as loans with WebBank identified as lender, so a payment tied to sales does not by itself turn either loan into a merchant cash advance.
The source of repayment decides the planning, and the planning here begins with a channel the owner may have stopped noticing. PayPal Working Capital collects a percentage of PayPal sales, which suits a business whose customers pay through that channel and strains one whose PayPal receipts represent only part of revenue, while the Business Loan uses scheduled weekly payments from the business bank account that require available funds on the stated date whether or not customers have paid. The channel question, which looked secondary on the application screen, ends up governing the calendar the business will live with.
Before choosing between them, examine where customers pay. A business with substantial revenue outside PayPal should understand how the Working Capital arrangement relates to that channel, including the consequences of a change in sales activity. What happens if customers begin using another payment channel deserves an answer from the agreement rather than an assumption.
The weekly loan payment creates a different exposure. A profitable business can still face a timing problem when customer collections arrive after the scheduled date. We review and analyze the collection calendar because a monthly profit statement does not show every shortfall.
For Working Capital, lower PayPal receipts may reduce percentage collections, but the provider also requires minimum repayment every 90 days. That obligation deserves its own line in the forecast. Simply copying the advertised percentage into a budget leaves out the minimum, and the minimum is where the sales linked design meets a calendar it cannot move.
Eligibility describes an application standard, not an approval. Working Capital requires PayPal account history with a stated minimum of 90 days plus qualifying sales, while the Business Loan identifies at least nine months in business with revenue requirements and personal and business credit checks. There are exceptions, though in practice they tend to confirm the rule.
These products address established activity rather than a business idea with no operating record. A founder preparing a first sale should not treat either product as an assured source of opening capital, since the published terms assume receipts that do not yet exist. The contract ran to fourteen pages in one offer we reviewed in hypothetical illustration, most of them devoted to payment mechanics rather than promises, which suggests where the provider own attention was fixed.
Working Capital advertises no personal credit check. That describes the application process. It does not establish that default carries no financial or reporting consequences, and the owner should ask the provider to explain what follows missed obligations. Availability also varies, since the current Working Capital page excludes North Dakota and South Dakota, so eligibility on a general page never establishes approval for an individual applicant.
Keep the application page, the offered terms, and the lender identity together. An owner may hear that one PayPal product uses account activity and assume the same approach governs another product. The comparison should concern the actual proposal on the desk, with the payment source and the amount left for operations treated as separate questions that require the same records.
Working Capital uses a single fixed fee. Compare the amount received with the total repayment obligation, the expected collection pattern, and what happens if repayment takes a different course from the initial expectation. For the Business Loan offer, obtain the corresponding figures and schedule, then compare both proposals against the same realistic revenue projection. A smaller periodic payment can accompany a different total cost, and the total is what the business pays.
Early repayment requires care. The absence of a prepayment penalty need not produce a refund of a fixed fee. We ensure the written offer explains the balance required to close the account on the anticipated date, and we ensure that explanation is kept with the offer rather than remembered from a call. There is a peculiar mismatch between the neatness of an application screen and the irregularity of customer receipts, and the comparison belongs in a cash forecast with ordinary expenses still present.
Read the payment authorization, any guaranty, collection provisions, and dispute terms. Keep a copy of the agreement accepted at origination.
Ask how payment problems are reported and where hardship requests should go. Policies can differ by product and account. No general comparison can resolve the terms of an individual offer, and the agreement should identify the lender.
The new funds should be measured against the obligations they will actually retire. List the balances the borrowing would address and obtain current payoff information where an existing obligation would end. A loan used to support current payments can leave the old debt outstanding alongside the new one, so the owner should identify whether the transaction replaces an obligation or adds another source of repayment pressure.
Where MCA obligations are the immediate problem, a Delancey Street review can examine negotiation without assuming a new PayPal loan is necessary. Confirm whether the accounts qualify and whether the proposed service covers only the MCA component. Neither the provider review nor a financing application resolves an existing legal deadline, and independent counsel should address any proceeding in the case against the business.
Owners rarely borrow on a calm day. The pressure explains the application, though it does not excuse skipping the payoff arithmetic. If the purpose is to manage an existing advance, determine whether the new funds will retire that obligation or merely support its withdrawals, since a replacement transaction needs a payoff figure and written confirmation of what ends when payment arrives. A funder may continue pursuing the original agreement in order to collect a balance the new lender never undertook to resolve.
Delancey Street offers a free confidential initial review of MCA debt concerns, and it is a debt settlement company rather than a law firm, with legal matters handled by independently licensed counsel. An adviser can help ensure the comparison includes settlement or another appropriate route where additional borrowing would be extremely difficult to sustain. The useful question is whether the proposed loan improves the business after the first deposit has been spent, a question the source of repayment answers before the borrowing limit ever does.
Most funders accept 30–60% as a full settlement — with proper leverage.
