Full 2026 rankings, city guides, and red-flag checks: Business Cash Advance Settlement.

A $100,000 offer can commit $135,000 of future receipts without buying a single quiet month.

The schedule below follows one hypothetical model far enough to separate the deposit, the contractual cost, with the cash required along the way. Every assumption is stated because the arithmetic means nothing without it.

The Worked Example and Its Limits

Assume the business receives $100,000 with no origination charge or other deduction. A hypothetical factor of 1.35 sets a total payment obligation of $135,000. The $35,000 difference is the modeled charge above the advance, before any excluded cost. The model balanced. The business could not pay.

Assume further 270 equal payments of $500, one each calendar day starting the day after funding. That is roughly nine months on a thirty day month convention (calendars vary more than examples admit). It is not a claim that any provider collects on weekends or offers this term.

Missed payments, reconciliation changes, additional advances, with default charges sit outside the model. So does any early payoff adjustment. Replace each assumption with the actual term before applying the worksheet to a live agreement, with keep the assumptions beside the figures whenever the sheet leaves the office. There are agreements where the total moves, though modeling each variant is beyond this illustration.

Balances at Four Checkpoints

On the first morning after funding, the arithmetic is direct: $100,000 times 1.35 equals $135,000, with $135,000 divided by 270 equals $500. The operational question is whether the business can supply that $500 on the required dates. A correct total never establishes affordability. Most worksheets flatter the advance more than the payroll schedule.

After thirty payments, $15,000 paid with a modeled balance of $120,000. After ninety, $45,000 paid with $90,000 remaining. At 180, $90,000 paid with $45,000 owed. The 270th payment completes the $135,000.

Those are arithmetic balances, not payoff quotes. A real agreement may carry a documented early payment adjustment, later fees, or credits that change the closing amount. Request a dated payoff rather than treating a spreadsheet as the creditor acceptance.

The model divides no payment into principal with interest; it tracks a total contractual amount. If the actual product is a loan with amortization, use that schedule with its terms instead of importing MCA vocabulary. For cash planning, set each debit beside expected deposits: a week of several payments with delayed receipts may need a reserve even where the month looks adequate.

Where another advance is active, add its withdrawals on the same dates. The $500 does not shrink because a second funder appears on a separate application. A bookkeeper should reconcile the ledger against the schedule, recording successful payments, reversals, with adjustments apart, so a variance can be traced to timing, an omitted credit, or a disputed charge, because the explanation the owner invents at midnight is rarely the one the ledger supports.

Annualized Figures Without Mislabels

A 1.35 factor does not mean a thirty five percent annual interest rate. The factor relates the modeled advance to total payments. Collection pace affects any annualized cash flow comparison because money returns throughout the period.

The CFPB discussion of APR with interest rates explains the broader cost concept for consumer mortgages. Applied here only by analogy, a cash flow model can inform without posing as a required statutory APR disclosure. Solving the daily internal rate of return across the 270 payments with compounding it over a year yields an effective annualized rate near 134.7 percent; a nominal figure without compounding would differ. State the method with every quotation, including payment frequency with fee treatment, at least on these simplified terms.

That comparison adds no charge to the contract. The modeled total stays $135,000. It expresses money received, money returned, with timing on a defined basis. That is the only basis that travels.

Substituting the Actual Offer

The offer documents should replace the model before signing: check the actual net deposit, fees, collection calendar, with any adjustment provision. If $10,000 of the stated advance pays an earlier account, separate that payoff from money for new expenses. The contractual total with new operating cash answer different questions. Whether every fee appears in the offer documents is a question the closing package must answer.

And the explanation should match the agreement, not merely the email summary.

Reviewing Options Against the Schedule

Delancey Street can be considered for reviewing MCA settlement options where the collection schedule strains the business. It is a settlement company, not a law firm. Independently licensed counsel should evaluate legal disputes, guarantees, with court proceedings on the account.

A confidential initial review should use current payment history rather than the original advance alone. Bring the latest demand, any proposed modification, with a forecast showing funds after operating needs. Compare a temporary adjustment with a final settlement as offered: the first may lower the debit while preserving a later balance, while the second needs an agreement defining payment with release.

Most owners study the advance where the schedule decides the outcome. I understand the fixation. Consultation is where this conversation begins: accept the offer, seek a change, or obtain advice about another resolution, but decide from the complete transaction rather than the number printed beside funding approved.

FAQ

How much can debt settlement save?
Typical settlements range from 30–60 cents on the dollar, depending on the funder, contract terms, and legal leverage available.
Can I settle if a COJ has been filed?
Yes — but you need legal intervention, not just negotiation. Attorney-coordinated firms can file motions to vacate and stay enforcement.
How long does debt settlement take?
Specialized firms typically resolve cases in 2–6 months — much faster than general debt settlement programs.
Will it affect my credit score?
MCA debt is generally not reported to consumer credit bureaus, so settlement typically doesn't impact your personal credit.
