The ledger and the loan share a screen without sharing an identity. An owner facing a QuickBooks Capital default should identify the creditor, the repayment terms, and the guarantee before assuming that access to business records determines the collection rights available to the lender.

The Current Term Loan and Its Issuer

QuickBooks Term Loan information identifies WebBank as the issuer of the current product, with weekly or monthly debits according to the loan agreement. The brand through which the application traveled does not resolve every servicing question, and older financing or marketplace products should be checked against their own documents rather than assigned the terms of the current offer. Before the first missed debit, before the dashboard banner changed color, the agreement had already fixed the amount, the schedule, and the party entitled to enforce them.

The same product information describes payment terms of six to twenty four months, no origination fees, and no prepayment penalties, alongside a statement that applying will not affect the personal score of the owner. That application statement is narrow. It addresses the inquiry, not the performance, and the published material separately provides that payment performance is reported to Dun and Bradstreet and to Experian business reporting. There are exceptions, though in practice they tend to confirm the rule.

Compare the executed note with the current statement and any notice describing a change in the account. Rarely does a dashboard identify which party can approve a modification and which party would sign a release. Consult and contact the correct desk before making a payment promise intended to settle the entire account.

Collateral, Guarantees, and the Difference

The product information states that business collateral is not required and that the personal guarantee of the owner is taken into consideration instead. Those two disclosures address different forms of exposure, and the absence of one does not soften the other. Collateral concerns an interest in specified property while a guarantee concerns a promise by a person to answer for the obligation, a promise the product material defines as repayment by the owner where the business cannot.

Counsel should examine who signed, the capacity in which each signature appears, and whether the guarantee is limited or subject to conditions, using the executed version rather than a generic explanation. A settlement offered to the company should address the guarantor where personal liability is part of the account, since a document that releases the entity while leaving a separate promise intact may not produce the closure the owner expects. Where the business is being sold or wound down, the transaction may change company assets without touching an owner promise. The ledger that recorded the loan balance cannot answer the legal question of who remains bound.

The software showed the obligation. It did not decide who owed it.

The reconciliation function behaves the way a smoke detector behaves in a building already scheduled for demolition: technically present, operationally beside the point once the guarantee has been called. Eligibility factors such as revenue history and bank transactions decided underwriting long ago. They do not decide enforcement.

Missed Payments and the Business Record

Start with the payment that failed. Identify the scheduled amount, the reason the debit did not clear, and whether another transfer subsequently went through, because a demand prepared before that later payment may need an updated calculation. Request a statement separating remaining principal from interest and any other amount claimed, and where acceleration is asserted, locate the provision and determine whether its conditions occurred.

The forecast that follows should use cash the business can support after operating expenses. A temporary delay by a customer is different from a continuing decline in revenue, and the evidence supporting the distinction should accompany any request for revised terms. An arrangement built on a supposed interruption can fail where the ordinary margin no longer supports the original debt.

And the provider possession of business data does not create an unlimited remedy.

A right to debit, demand payment, or pursue a guarantee must be assessed under the applicable agreement and law (a right the lender will describe in broad terms while counsel reads the same paragraph for its conditions and limits). Access to the books is not itself a judgment, and most funders know exactly what a data feed proves. They prefer not to examine it too closely.

Documents Before Negotiation

Intuit instructions explain where the loan agreement and paid in full letter can be downloaded through loan history. Simply save the agreement outside the software account with statements, payment confirmations, and correspondence.

Do not estimate a point loss on any score. Review the actual reports and dispute factual errors through the applicable process. The file the lender assembled in order to underwrite the loan can become evidence used against you, so protect and preserve every version of it, a discipline that proves extremely useful once more than one balance is in dispute. I am less certain about the speed of bureau updates than the preceding paragraph might suggest.

Settlement Posture and Counsel

The question is not answered by the bookkeeping entry, and counsel should confirm any extension with the party authorized to grant it, since a customer support conversation does not create a procedural pause. Delancey Street, a settlement company and not a law firm, offers a review of business debt concerns for owners weighing a guaranteed loan against other obligations, while legal disputes require independent counsel. We ensure the ledger, the notice, and the guarantee receive extremely close attention as three documents rather than one, and the objective is to ensure no statement is made without counsel present, even casually, where a personal promise is involved.

Most owners open the dashboard before opening the agreement. I understand why. Before the next debit posts, before counsel has reviewed the notice, resist the urge to answer it with money meant for payroll, and consider what the business retains, or surrenders, with each payment it chooses to make, or to withhold. We review the terms, identify the deficiencies, and construct a reply that addresses both the arrears and the guarantee behind them. Consultation with Delancey Street is where this conversation begins for owners whose books are precise and whose obligations have outgrown them.

FAQ

How much can debt settlement save?
Typical settlements range from 30–60 cents on the dollar, depending on the funder, contract terms, and legal leverage available.
Can I settle if a COJ has been filed?
Yes — but you need legal intervention, not just negotiation. Attorney-coordinated firms can file motions to vacate and stay enforcement.
How long does debt settlement take?
Specialized firms typically resolve cases in 2–6 months — much faster than general debt settlement programs.
Will it affect my credit score?
MCA debt is generally not reported to consumer credit bureaus, so settlement typically doesn't impact your personal credit.
