Full 2026 rankings, city guides, and red-flag checks: Business Cash Advance Settlement.
The collection call is a late event in a sequence the agreement put in motion. A merchant whose PayPal sales have declined needs to establish the next contractual requirement and the available cash, because waiting for a representative to explain the account leaves less time for a useful response.
Attention belongs on the calendar before it belongs on the telephone, because the percentage on the screen says nothing about the date the agreement enforces.
PayPal’s Working Capital product explanation describes a business loan from WebBank with a single fixed fee, repaid through a percentage of PayPal sales. No periodic interest accrues, and the page lists no late fees. Those terms describe the cost of the loan, which is a separate question from the timing of repayment.
The product differs from PayPal Business Loan, which collects weekly fixed payments from a bank account and examines personal and business credit. Retrieve the agreement for the actual account before relying on advice about another PayPal service, since commentary about one product migrates, in conversation, to the other without losing any of its confidence.
Eligibility history matters less than the executed documents. The public page describes account tenure and sales thresholds for applicants (our sample of these files is too small to generalize, and we do not generalize from it). The obligations of an existing borrower come from the agreement and any accepted modification.
Every ninety days the borrower must have repaid a defined share of the total: five percent for loans with longer estimated terms and ten percent for shorter ones. Automatic deductions from PayPal sales cover the requirement in periods of ordinary volume. The lender enforces the calendar in order to protect the fixed fee the agreement promised.
When sales fall, the percentage yields less and the calendar does not adjust. The contract was enforceable. It was also written for higher volume.
The minimum functions the way a rent clause functions in a lease on a store that has lost foot traffic: the street went quiet, and the clause did not notice.
But the shortfall is a number before it is a dispute. Download the transaction history while the information remains available in a retainable format, and compare credited repayments with the sales and transfers from which they were calculated. A decline in orders, a payment credited to the wrong period, and whatever explanation the servicer offers for the disputed entry each require different records.
Refunds, disputes, and transfers deserve separate entries in the operating forecast. They affect available cash even where the owner regards the original sale as complete. Whether the account treats a refund as a reduction of sales or as an independent adjustment is a question worth considering.
The percentage feels like the whole obligation. It was designed to feel that way. The agreement, if we are being precise, is the only version of the terms that binds the parties.
Use a dated cash forecast showing receipts the business expects to collect, necessary operating payments, and the loan requirement that remains outstanding. Distinguish confirmed receipts from sales that have not yet occurred, and place rent, payroll, and inventory for existing orders first in the calculation.
For a seasonal merchant, the comparable season matters more than the preceding month. An extremely optimistic forecast built in a strong month can fail in the weak one. Steps the merchant takes, or does not take, in the first ninety days determine the options in the second. State any uncertainty about a large customer payment inside the forecast and show the result if the money arrives in a later month.
PayPal permits manual repayment and states that early repayment carries no additional fee. That statement does not itself reduce the original fixed fee or constitute an agreement to accept less than the balance. The success rate of settlement proposals on these accounts is beyond what the public pages establish.
You make the payment before you discover how the payment was applied. Ask how a manual payment affects automatic collections and ensure both manual and automatic collections count toward the same ninety day obligation. Confirm who holds authority to approve any arrangement before treating a telephone conversation as the final agreement, since any admission on that call can return as evidence against the business.
The absence of late fees changes the cost of delay while leaving the deadline intact. The page lists no late fees (which some merchants read as permission to defer the minimum). Resist the urge to cover the minimum with a second advance that carries its own daily deduction.
Preserve and file new notices with the date received, and forward papers requiring legal action to counsel through the agreed channel. Record any accepted change beside the original agreement and keep rejected proposals in a separate file.
Delancey Street offers a free confidential initial review of business debt concerns. A merchant should explain that the account is PayPal Working Capital and ask whether the actual obligation qualifies for assistance. The company provides debt settlement services and coordinates legal matters with independent counsel. It is not a law firm, and a collection lawsuit or disputed provision requires the appropriate attorney engagement.
For a merchant with several obligations, an adviser can review and analyze whether resolving one account leaves enough cash to maintain the others. Review fees, communication responsibilities, and the consequences if no agreement is reached. Counsel should ensure any legal response remains assigned while financial discussions continue.
Platform borrowing ties repayment to the marketplace where the revenue appears, until the revenue appears somewhere else. One extremely thin month can decide the ninety day calculation. The larger discipline is to resolve the obligation without making the next trading period depend on another promise, and a first call costs nothing while assuming nothing about the outcome.
Most funders accept 30–60% as a full settlement — with proper leverage.
