A familiar brand cannot answer a contract question. LoanBuilder and PayPal Working Capital may appear in the same financing search, yet the borrower still needs to establish which product is being offered and what the signed agreement requires. LoanBuilder describes itself as a PayPal service offering customized fixed term business loans, while Working Capital is a separate PayPal loan product with repayment tied to PayPal sales, so the offer on the desk governs and the brand on the page does not.

Name the product behind the application

Retain the product name, the lender identification, and the complete proposed agreement before comparing any quoted payment. A broker description can shorten distinctions that matter once payments begin, and PayPal identifies WebBank as the lender for its Business Loan and Working Capital products without establishing that every LoanBuilder offer carries identical terms. The documents control the comparison.

Simply ask the representative to identify the specific product in writing. Then confirm that the payment schedule and fee disclosure correspond to that product. An answer drawn from a different PayPal page may be accurate about the wrong loan, and that error only surfaces when the first payment leaves the wrong account.

And the version matters. Save the pages reviewed at the time of application rather than assuming the website will preserve them. A product name can remain familiar while the offer or service arrangements change, so preserve the application materials tied to the actual transaction and identify the lender in the final agreement.

How repayment follows sales

In 2024, many borrowers first encountered sales linked repayment as a convenience rather than a covenant. Working Capital collects a percentage of PayPal sales and requires a minimum repayment every 90 days, so its collection method can adjust with sales activity while the minimum remains relevant. That minimum deserves the same attention as the percentage, since the percentage describes ordinary months and the minimum governs the weak ones.

The PayPal Business Loan uses weekly payments from a business bank account. For a LoanBuilder offer, verify the actual schedule rather than importing a term from another page. A fixed term loan should be evaluated against the dates on which the business expects usable cash, not against invoiced revenue that has not yet arrived.

Consider a customer who pays after the scheduled collection date. The sale may be real, the invoice may be collectible, and the account may still lack enough cash when the payment arrives. That sequence is a planning question before it becomes a dispute, and the owner should use collected receipts rather than invoiced revenue when assessing the amount available for repayment.

What happens if customers begin using another payment channel.

The Working Capital agreement should be reviewed for obligations affected by changes in PayPal activity. A sales based collection method should never be treated as an unrestricted option to decide when repayment occurs. Ask how a move to a different processor would affect the arrangement, since that operational decision should be examined against the contract before the owner assumes it has no financing consequence.

Application standards and account consequences

Qualification is a gate, not a forecast. Working Capital standards advertise no personal credit check with qualifying PayPal sales and a stated minimum account history of 90 days, while the PayPal Business Loan identifies personal and business credit checks with operating history and revenue requirements. Those differences concern entry. They do not establish what any lender reports during servicing or what follows a default.

A guaranty, where present, deserves separate attention (and the business name printed on the application, which many owners read as the full extent of the obligation, does not settle what the owner undertook). Its effect cannot be read from the application header. An attorney can review and analyze the actual undertaking before the owner assumes personal exposure is absent.

We cannot infer approval from a stated minimum. The provider makes an account specific decision, and current availability should be confirmed before planning around the funds. That confirmation belongs in the file with the offered terms.

The closing balance rather than the fee alone

Working Capital uses a fixed fee. Compare total repayment with the amount deposited and the expected repayment period.

Ask what an early payoff would require. No prepayment penalty need not mean a fee refund. Keep the payoff calculation with the offer.

The debt the loan would replace

A replacement loan should be measured against the accounts it will close. Obtain the relevant payoff amounts and identify any shortfall between those figures and the net funds on hand. If the transaction retires only part of the existing debt, retain the remaining payments in the forecast. A financing comparison becomes extremely incomplete when existing withdrawals disappear from the worksheet without a signed payoff arrangement.

Examine the proposed use of funds with the person responsible for operations. A borrowing decision described as debt replacement may also rely on money reserved for inventory or another expense. The company should not count those proceeds twice. Most lenders understand a forecast better than an apology. They prefer not to receive the apology in the same quarter as the covenant breach.

If existing MCA withdrawals drive the inquiry, a Delancey Street review can help assess the commercial negotiation option. Confirm the scope and fees, with legal questions assigned to independently licensed counsel where required. The review should use the same operating figures used to evaluate the loan, or the two paths cannot be compared at all.

Delancey Street offers a free confidential initial review for MCA debt concerns. The company provides debt settlement services and coordinates legal matters with independently licensed counsel, and it is not a law firm. Resist the urge to apply before identifying the payoff amount, since new financing may leave an old balance outstanding along with collection rights the business expected to end. The creditor can pursue those rights in order to recover the remaining claim, and the decision should leave the owner able to explain that payment pattern without reaching for a brand comparison.

FAQ

How much can debt settlement save?
Typical settlements range from 30–60 cents on the dollar, depending on the funder, contract terms, and legal leverage available.
Can I settle if a COJ has been filed?
Yes — but you need legal intervention, not just negotiation. Attorney-coordinated firms can file motions to vacate and stay enforcement.
How long does debt settlement take?
Specialized firms typically resolve cases in 2–6 months — much faster than general debt settlement programs.
Will it affect my credit score?
MCA debt is generally not reported to consumer credit bureaus, so settlement typically doesn't impact your personal credit.
