Full 2026 rankings, city guides, and red-flag checks: Business Cash Advance Settlement.

The settlement has already done the work that a new negotiation would attempt, at least for the obligations covered.

Borrowers holding a Yellowstone agreement should therefore begin with the contract drawer rather than the telephone, since the New York Attorney General action entered in January 2025 canceled covered balances automatically while leaving every surrounding question of records, liens, and remaining debts to be resolved account by account.

Match the Contract to the Covered Companies

The Attorney General implementation page names Yellowstone and twenty five subsidiaries covered by the settlement, from Advance Merchant Services to World Global Capital. Relief follows the legal counterparty on the executed agreement, not the broker name or trading style the owner remembers from funding day.

Simply obtain the executed agreement and identify its counterparty before concluding the account qualifies. Bank statements and correspondence can help locate the record, though they should not replace the contract where its identity remains uncertain. Often the decisive document is the one the owner almost discarded, starting with page one.

The objection that subsidiary names were interchangeable (which commentary defending the industry tends to assume without examining any particular agreement) does not survive a comparison of the actual counterparties.

Whether every mailed notice reached its borrower is a question the file rarely answers.

Keep the agreement with any notices received since. A later inquiry will require evidence of the original relation as well as the present status of the account, though what counts as sufficient proof varies with the forum.

Automatic Cancellation Is Not a Claims Payment

Outstanding covered Yellowstone merchant debt was canceled automatically, including covered guarantee obligations and remaining balances under prior settlements. The agency describes the canceled merchant debt as totaling $534 million. The settlement, in the end, rewards the borrower who kept paper.

Cancellation happened to covered balances without any action by the borrower. Everything else about the file still requires some.

A cancellation notice, a claims payment, and a court order each establish something different, and the absence of one must not be read as proof that every other form of relief is unavailable, particularly where the owner never received the mailed notice of March 2025 and only learned of the settlement from a later demand stamped amount due across a balance the settlement had erased. Monetary claims traveled a separate path whose deadline of January 9, 2026 has passed, with payments mailed to qualifying claimants in April of that year.

Have counsel review and analyze the account and available notices before any payment is promised on a balance presented as current. This review is extremely consequential where a caller presents the balance as collectible. Counsel should ensure the correct provider has been identified and ensure the advice accounts for any judgment or lien still appearing in public records, since statements made to a collector can later be used against the company.

Read the official description of each form of relief. Match its conditions and dates to the account. Compare each demand against the agreement and reconcile the figures before responding.

Judgments, Liens, and the Closed Request Windows

Yellowstone judgments were vacated in batches, the first in April 2025 and the final one in December of that year, while lien termination required a merchant request by July 8, 2025. Older instructions that invite a new request should not be treated as an open door today. There is a singular comfort in a docket entry that records vacatur, though comfort is not the same as completion.

Docket work in August proceeds at the pace of the room rather than the pace of the debt. Obtain the actual docket or filing record where a public entry remains, and have counsel assess what further action, if any, the entry permits. No notice should sit unexamined, even briefly, while its relation to the settlement is unknown.

A historical entry should be read with its later orders. The later orders are the entry.

Delta Bridge Borrowers Stand Outside This Settlement

Outside the settlement stand Delta Bridge and its Cloudfund trade name (which took over the Yellowstone business in May 2021), while litigation against the remaining parties continues into this year. Borrowers covered by the settlement owe nothing further on the canceled balances.

Resist the urge to treat every advance from that era as though it shared the same fate. The March 2026 denial of a motion to dismiss is a procedural ruling rather than a final determination of liability, and the precise boundary of the covered group is a matter for the official materials and counsel, not for inference from a similar name.

Other Advances and the Complaint Process

You hold the canceled agreement in one hand and the surviving debts in the other, and the task is to keep them separate.

Where other funders remain unpaid, Delancey Street offers a free confidential initial review of the remaining schedule. The review identifies the agreement, quantifies the surviving schedule, and constructs a response that addresses both the canceled balance and the debts that remain. That is the discipline the settlement rewards. The company is a debt settlement company rather than the administrator of the Attorney General settlement, and independently licensed counsel handles any legal question the accounts present. An extremely careful separation of canceled and surviving balances repays the effort.

A continuing collection attempt on a covered canceled balance can be reported through the agency complaint process. Where such paper is reissued in order to collect, the complaint process supplies the response. The Attorney General does not act as counsel to any individual borrower, so legal questions require separate counsel.

Consultation is where this accounting begins, and it proceeds account by account rather than by announcement. Relief the settlement supplied, and work the settlement left undone, belong in separate columns. The value of a public action of this scale is preserved through precision about which agreement it touched and which relief it supplied, with the remaining debts addressed on their own terms.

FAQ

How much can debt settlement save?
Typical settlements range from 30–60 cents on the dollar, depending on the funder, contract terms, and legal leverage available.
Can I settle if a COJ has been filed?
Yes — but you need legal intervention, not just negotiation. Attorney-coordinated firms can file motions to vacate and stay enforcement.
How long does debt settlement take?
Specialized firms typically resolve cases in 2–6 months — much faster than general debt settlement programs.
Will it affect my credit score?
MCA debt is generally not reported to consumer credit bureaus, so settlement typically doesn't impact your personal credit.
